Please click on the list of links below to learn more about the organizations we have supported in 2006, and how to help them (either by volunteering, donating, or adopting a loving pet!)
Our Pal's Place ($2370)
Our Pal’s Place is an incorporated, not-for-profit Pet Adoption Facility and Education Center located in Marietta, GA. Their mission is to rescue dogs from euthanasia at local animal control shelters. When entering the shelter, they first meet the dogs who have a "death date". They provide the dog’s food, housing, love, attention, full veterinarian care and are spay/neutered.
American Humane Association ($750)
The mission of the American Humane Association, as a network of individuals and organizations, is to prevent cruelty, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of children and animals and to assure that their interests and well being are fully, effectively, and humanely guaranteed by an aware and caring society. The American Humane Association assisted greatly in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Piedmont Dog Park ($165)
Piedmont Park is a haven for dogs and humans alike! While a City of Atlanta ordinance requires all dogs in public areas to be leashed, Piedmont Dog Park is one of the few locations in metro Atlanta where dogs may run free. This special off-leash area, open since 2002, is one of the most popular features of Piedmont Park. The Piedmont Park Conservancy oversees the Piedmont Dog Park.
House Rabbit Society ($420)
The House Rabbit Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization with two primary goals: to rescue abandoned rabbits whose time is up at animal shelters and to find permanent homes for them, and to educate the public and assist humane societies, through publications on rabbit care, phone consultations and classes. The Georgia chapter rescues many rabbits from all over Georgia.
